Harset, Co

There are lots of deer roaming the hills around Roger and Allie's home. this was the closest shot I got.

Theses are the flowers Allie brought to mom at the airport. Our plane ride to Denver was quiet eventful as one of the agents played Southwest has talent and several ones sang, told jokes etc. The the entire plane sang HB to Irene. You know how she loves getting so much attention.

What can we say for 90 don't we all wish we will look this good when we reach that decade?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM, GRANDMA, GREAT-GRANDMA, GREAT-GREAT GRANDMA, SISTER, AUNT, SISTER-IN-LAW, MOTHER-IN-LAW, FRIEND................

Grandma celebrates 90 in CO with grandsons

As most of you know we don't' let any grass grow under our feet. We flew to Denver, Co. on Wednesday the 23rd. Allie picked us up at the airport. On Saturday the 26th, Fred and Natalie and children, John and Abby and Madison and Tim all came down to the mountains.

Everyone enjoyed the visit. The kids especially loved the hot tub. Saturday evening we went to a local pub to watch the Cardinals beat the Rockies . Yippie.

From left to right is Fred, Tim, John, Abby holding Madison, Brianna and Natalie. Then Amblyn in front of Tim, Cammie, Mom and Broden.

we were trying to get a photo of the sunset but was difficult as the mountain would obscure it from my position.

Mom was helping to mend some quilts that Allie had gotten at a resell it shop. she had a little trouble with the altitude as it's over 9,000 there at the house. We had to keep oxygen on her most of the time. Otherwise got along great.

this is the deck that Roger built around the hot tub. It snowed the first day we were there otherwise we had beautiful weather. If you want to vacation in Co. you can look up the place on www.VRBO.com they live in Hartsel, CO.

Mom continues to celebrate and enjoyed getting to see the kids while we were there.

Celebrating 90 BD in Rolla

Monday, September 21 we drove to Rolla and met the Beltz clan for dinner. This is about half way for both sides and everyone enjoyed a good dinner.

Ed and Linda came up Dixon, MO. Uncle Kenneth and Viola and Kenny J, plus Uncle John. Jeannie was in Florida with a Friend.
JD & Edie were there coming in from Springfield on their way home.

Carl and Joyce came with Uncle Jim and Geneva. Plus their daughter and her family.

Dan and Sue with children (Emma, Caleb and Issac) came with Bill. They are leaving for Costa Rico soon to be missionaries. If any of you would like to help them financially you can reach them at daniel.jenkens@efca.org or Sue's email is sue.jenkens@efca.org

Here's the Birthday girl with Geneva and Bill. The entire restaurant sang Happy Birthday to mom. Aunt Marie had given her a gift card for Apple Bee and she enjoyed her dinner. Thanks again Aunt Marie. Wish you could have been there. One thing for sure we are all getting too old to drive that far for dinner. :) I had to drive home in a rain storm which was very unnerving.
Thanks again for everyone that came.

Baby turns 48

Labor Day was actually Glens' 66 birthday this year and we called him . Sarah had the day off so she came over from Sullivan, Il. and Jonathan came in and we celebrated his birthday together.

Sarah baked a cake for Jonathan and everyone enjoyed the day.

We told mother she didn't look old enough for her baby to be 48 let alone on the others. :)

Sunday August 30th we took mom and Opal to a small airfield just out of St. Charles. Looked at some old planes and small flyer's. It was a little cool for the last of August but otherwise a beautiful day.

It was pretty interesting all the guns they had mounted in these planes.

Mother was more than dumbfounded that this lady was painted on the side of the plane.

Here's the moms sitting in their walkers enjoyed the day.

On Saturday 29th we had dropped mom off at JD's and Edies. They went over to Bill's and mother really enjoyed her day. Roger, Austin, Jerry and I went jug fishing on the Missouri River. Actually I sat in the back of the boat and read while the boys fished. We caught 6 blue cat and brought them home to replenish our pond from all the fish we lost in June. It was a beautiful day. Who would of thought it was the end of August. We were out on the river from 7:30 till 3 p.m. and no sunburn.

Arriving home after being gone for ten days we had lots to do as well as getting back into mom's routine. Swim early Monday morning and then I was tackling the loads and loads of laundry, two weeks of mail, bills, etc. It's a good thing we made Salsa in late July as no one attended the garden while we were gone..... we had cucumbers bigger than zucchini should be and zucchini big enough to be base bats. Our tomatoes did well this year we made of 45 pounds of tomatoes into salsa. But the peppers were nuthin........ racoons got the corn, bugs ate the califower, lettuce and onions didn't go much. Berries a few hope to have more next year. We picked berries out in the woods and Roger got over 20 gallons. He was obessed. Now I have berries fermenting inthe living room. I did make several batches of blackberry jelly and froze 4 gallons for fresh berries later...

Our Cannes did beautifully this year but the banana trees did not. I'm sure most of it is contributed to the fact it remained so cool from July 1 on.

As you can see the Elephant ears did well too. This is the east side of the house.

Monday afternoon 17th we had a huge wind storm. Rained some but mostly wind. It blew down this tree. The tree was over 4 stories high and 3 1/2 to 4 feet in diameter at the base. It took Roger and I the next 6 days to get it completely to the ground. It missed the neighbors fence by about 3 feet. The up side to all of it was my garden will get a lot more sun in the future do to this monster being down. We were so thankful it didn't do any damage to our neighbors yards as most of it was over there.

Last nite in Branson

We caught this on our way back to the trailer our last night of fishing. Chloe and Skyler were very excited.
Sunday August 16th Steve took mom back with him so she could rest while Roger and I loaded, packed and repacked, winterized the trailer and backtracked to Springfield. Roger pulling the trailer and I the boat. It would not have taken us so long if we had of remember how to winterize the trailer. Oh well. We made it and arrived home late Sunday nite. Only to start over with packing and unpacking. I can't leave anything in the trailer over the winter as it might freeze and you want to try and keep out the critters.

Never miss a chance to take a picture of the sunset. I always think of the song "From the rising of the sun, to the going down of the same, the Name of the Lord shall be praise."

Our last weekend Steve and Skyler came down on Friday 14 and spent the night. Miranda and Chloe came down on Saturday. The muchkins had a blast. I think they caught more fish then the adults. Something about that Barbie pole of Chloe's.

Skyler helped Grandpa Roger with driving the boat. Something that seems to fascinate most kiddos.

Here's Grandpa and one of our big trouts. Not sure if it was his or mine. Whatever the reason the trout we caught this year were much larger than the last few years.
Always good eating.

a fun trip for the kiddos as summer is quickly coming to a close. Pam had gone to Tx helping Em over the weekend and Troy was working. Grandma enjoyed the company and everyone was exhausted.

On Tuesday August 11 we took the day off from fishing and went to Silver Dollar City. We all enjoyed our day. The weather was perfect. We listened to four different singing groups.

I had not been to SDC since I'd left Springfield in 1983. There has been many changes and yet some things were the same as back then.

One thing I had forgotten was how HILLY that place it. Mother did really well going down but then we had to push her back up.

Roger had never been so it was quiet and experience for him.

We had to take Copper with us as he had just had major surgury. Had some bones and wood and junk stuck in his intestines. Major major deal. He was no trouble to speak of as he just laid aroung most of the time.
Actually the vet was not pleased even with us trying to be careful it was probably too much activity for him.
We were on the phone back and forth to our vet all week. What an ordeal.
Roger and I caught our limit every day. It was lots of fun and we ate fish about every other day. The weather was awesome.

This eagle was just sitting there and I was tired of fishing so I took photos.

The sun setting over Lake Tannycomo. Yes it's a lot of work to prepare for this trip but we all enjoyed it very much.

This is Sarah her husband Brett and his mother Anne came but not in the photo.

Here's a family photo of Elizabeth and Jason and the boys and grandma. She really enjoyed getting to see everyone. We were so glad they took the time to come down to see her.
We left for Branson on the 6th of August. Making this trip is always a big ordeal. We leave from St. Louis dragging the bass boat and enough stuff to camp for a month. Drive to Springfield and hook the boat to Steve's truck.... drive to Willard and leave the truck and boat there.... drive on to Stockton lake which is 50 the opposite direction of Springfield as Branson is.... to pickup the travel trailer. Get there and find that someone had backed into it on the storage lot. Minor damage but stillllllllllllllllllll. Drive back to Willard pickup the boat and Steve's truck.... Roger pulls the trailer and I pull the boat. Get to Branson and spend the next several hours setting up the trailer and unpacking supplies. All of this is the reason I had told Roger I did not want to go for a four day weekend so he extended it for 10 days.

Steve and Pam came down on Friday 7th and all had a great time fishing and eating fish.

On Sunday Mary and her bunch came down to see mom. This is Mary with Jason and Elizabeth two boys, Peyton and Jackson.

Jason is a great dad. We enjoyed seeing all as mom and I had not seen Jackson yet.

Dandy boy.

Okay I know I have been on slep mode for the past month. Sorry there was just too much to do or I just checked out for awhile.

The last of July we went to Willow Springs to help Steve with the yard at mother's house as Georgia had it on the market. The schrubs had overgrown so much it was a lot of work but we managed to get a lot done in one afternoon.

This is mom on the front porch after our clean up we should have done a BEfore and After. :)

It also was the weekend of the Beltz reunion so we were able to go over on Saturday and be with the family that were able to attend.
